Where She Went

After reading If I Stay and having mixed feeling about that book, I have to admit that I was a bit confused about reading Where She Went. Having read some reviews though, I decided to give it a try.

I started reading this book without reading the synopsis and I waited a much different story. First of all I was surprised to see that the MC was Adam! I was in Mia mood and I read the first chapter fast, waiting for the next to one to be from Mia’s POV. But it wasn’t and it was hard for me to be inside Adam’s head.

Adam is not in a good place and even if there’s been three years, it feels like they broke up yesterday. He was whining a lot and he just didn’t feel like the same person as the one we met in If I Stay. I didn’t really like him in this one.

I was disappointed by the way this story was developing and it was a bit hard to read the book, given that nothing was really happening. I waited for the moment where he’d met Mia again but it took him a while to find her.

But the story didn’t get better when they met! Mia was a whole different person too, and honestly, she was annoying! She talked to him like nothing ever happened and she was light-headed and irritating. He deserved some explanations and she kept avoiding the talk to the very last minute. I get that she experienced something awful, but that didn’t justify her behavior.

So, the book was a disappointment. Where If I Stay left me with a strange but beautiful feeling, Where She Went made me frown.

I know many of you loved this book, so feel free to share your point of view.

Happy Monday!

  1. I really loved this book, but it took a while for that to happen. Like you, I did not read the synopsis so I was not prepared to be inside Adam's head and that through me off. Then when it got to the point where they meet again I was so mad at Mia for the same reasons you listed. She was just so annoying and frustrating! It didn't seem like she even understood how her actions caused so much pain for Adam. So the first time I tried reading this book I DNFed it. However, a few months later I tried it again, with the knowledge of where the book goes and I liked it so much better! I don't know what changed, but for whatever reason I fell in love with this book!

I understand what you mean about Adam being whinny, but that never really bothered me even when I was reading it for the first time. It's just he was dumped in such a bad way and I think even after a few years if you don't get that closure you will still be hung up by it.

    Great review :D

    1. Yes, it was so sudden to be in Adam's head! I'm glad you didn't find him annoying though, because I wanted to punch him so many times!

I felt like DNF this book, but I didn't. I can't leave a series half finished!

  2. These two books kind of killed me. I read them before I became a blogger but remember really enjoying both of them. I was surprised to be in Adam's head in this one. A lot of books seem to be doing that these days - the first book is from the girl's POV, then the next book is from the guy's POV. I wish I could remember more of why I loved this one. I do know that I didn't love it nearly as much as If I Stay.

    1. Yes, many books seem to do that and I personally don't like it. If I stay was indeed better than Where she went.
