Feature: Serving Time – Cover reveal

I am in the happy place to present you an upcoming book by the wonderful Nadine Ducca. If the name rings a bell it’s because I have talked about her again. She’s the one who showed me Critique Circle. Well, Nadine’s debut novel, SERVING TIME will be available soon. Check it out on Goodreads now. It’s a fantasy novel, taking place in a dystopian world. Are you ready for the cover reveal?

Yeah, I know what you’re thinking … this is a beautiful cover.

And now it’s time for a sneak peek into “Serving Time”. It’s a part about one of the characters, Robert Westbrook. And he is a Demon master!! Don’t miss the amazing interview about Robert in Lanise’s blog. Here we go...

She’d said it. She loved him. He should have felt happier than ever, but he didn’t. He ran his tongue over his teeth and gazed at Time. He didn’t feel much of anything right now, just a deep, black burning in his soul that was beginning to scare him.
“Thank you, my Goddess.” He clasped his hands in front of him. “You know I'd do anything for you.” Let's see what Future has to say about this.
As if hearing his thoughts, Future appeared on the horizon.
“Hello, my dear, humble sister!” She waved. Her red dress hugged her body and dropped freely from her hips.
“Damn you,” Time said, her eyes ablaze with nebulae. “One day, you will let your guard down. And the moment you do, I shall be there, by your side, ready to wring your neck.”
“Oh, you!” Future waved her hand in dismissal and laughed lightly, sending out sound waves of scorn with each bounce of her red curls. She approached.
Robert could feel the reverberations deep in his chest. He braced himself, for Time’s dress shook and rose from the ground with uncontrollable fury. “Time…” he said in a low voice. “Don’t—”
But before he could continue, she lunged, arms outspread, ready to tackle her sister. Future instantly shot away from her, a red flurry forever out of reach.
Time pounded the air with both fists. “If I ever get my hands on you, you sadistic—” Her voice cracked with poorly managed anger.
Robert’s shoulders slouched. It was always the same spectacle whenever they visited Future. She harassed them, mocked them, and taunted them to come closer if they wished to receive an answer to their questions. When they did step closer, her image shivered and she shot away, laughing and making obscene gestures at them from a distance. The cackling laughter was the worst part; it burrowed deep into Robert’s chest and made his lungs itch.
Future held a card between her thumb and index finger and waved it around like a fan. “Now, now! Do not lose your temper, dear sister. You have come seeking a favor. What do you say?” She pouted playfully, tapping a card against her lips.
Robert spread his arms. “Future. My Goddess. Please.” He noticed the weariness in his voice. “Please collaborate.”
Future tilted her head. “Aw, isn’t that adorable? Just uh-dore-uh-ble! My big sister taught her lapdog how to talk. It doesn’t get any more heartwarming than that.” She gazed past Robert and addressed Time. “You just keep taking them in, don't you?”
Robert dropped his hands at his sides.
“Time and her need for pet humans… Oh, and look at your little face! She never told you you were second choice!”
He narrowed his eyes. Abaddon’s new bind twisted and tightened in his heart.
“Sister!” Time said. “Leave him alone! Do not start with your tricks again!”
Future jutted her thumb out at Robert. “I'd be careful with your little butler. Do you want me to show you what might happen if you let your relationship spiral out of control?”
“No! Let it be!”
Future flung a card at Robert's feet. “You look at it, then. I know you want to.”

That’s it! I am happy that I participated in Nadine’s cover reveal. I'm sure you’re intrigued about Serving Time as much as I am. Feel free to make your comments. :)

  1. Wow, what an eye-catching cover! The composition is really impressive--I love how all the elements work together instead of clashing to the point of making the cover look cluttered...

Heather, thank you for your comments on the cover! The artist is Keith Draws. On April 12 (just a week from today), Keith will visit my blog and show the different steps he took in creating this cover! It'll be really cool to see the different images!
