The Hitch
Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a very interesting book. All of a sudden you may
wake up and find out that your house is going to be demolished because a bypass
needs to be build. But guess what, this is okay, because your whole world needs
to be demolished too for the exact same reason!
No harm done, right?
So, don't
panic and grab the hitch hiker's guide to the galaxy, and you may have a chance
to survive! Arthur Dent at least has a chance and that's mostly thanks to Ford
Prefect!
Arthur doesn’t
mind that his best friend is not a human but an alien from the planet
Betelgeuse Seven who happened to stuck in Earth. He does follow him because the
Vogons are ready to demolish the Earth and he actually has no other choice.
Arthur Dent
is just a simple human who gets tangled in a travel around the galaxy. He meets
the most extraordinary "people" and risks his life, a lot, for the strangest
reasons you can imagine.
Craziness is
logical in this book and fun is almost certain. Get ready to read the more
peculiar book ever and I’m sure you’ll find yourself craving for more. Actually
I think that either you gonna love it or hate it because there are no confused
feelings regarding this book.
It is truly
astonishing that this book was published in 1979 and still feels so up to date.
I read the
first two books so fast that I may actually win the Goodreads Challenge! (I’m
still 2 books behind and the clock is ticking!) I won't go into details for I
don't want to spoil the story, but this series is a must read!
We follow the
story through the eyes of five amazing characters, Arthur Dent, Ford Perfect, Zaphod
Beeblebrox, Trillian Astra and last but not least the great Marvin, the Paranoid Android. They
come together under the strangest circumstances and stuck together through the hardest
times.
There are no
words that can actually describe this series so enjoy the quotes!
“The major
problem –one of the major problems, for there are several – one of the many
major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather
of who manages to get people to let them do it to them. To summarize: it is a
well known fact that those people who most want to rule people are ipso facto,
those least suited to do it. To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of
getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the
job. To summarize the summary of the summary: people are a problem.”
“Life was in
short, ridiculously easy and for a while at least they were able to cope with
the problems of aimlessness and isolation by deciding to ignore them.”
This series sounds like so much fun! I really need to add these books to my TBR pile sometime, once I'm less behind on reading, haha.

ReplyDeleteHa! I've had this on my TBR list forever. I think I watched the movie or started the movie but it is so very strange it might go over better with me in book form. Possibly. Or maybe it's a mood thing, but you're totally right, it's not a story you have so-so feelings for.
