Rules

Seriously, who doesn’t hate this word? Rules! It’s not the word of course we hate –I hate, but the meaning. It is mostly because it creates limits and traps me when all I want to do is spread my wings and fly. But I know, there are limitations.

Hopefully not in everything. Imagination has no limits and I’m free to create whatever I want. Well, but only if I obey the rules.  You see what is going on, right? It’s an eternal loop and I’m spinning in the middle. But let’s take things from the beginning. Beginning is a good place to start, I think.

Criticism: Just keep the balance

So, there’s this thought in my head and I just have to talk about it. As some of you know, I’m struggling with editing. If you’ve been there, I’m sure you know what a hell it is. And if you enjoy it … please share the secret.

Some days ago, I was reading critiques from CC and I was trying to make a plan about the changes and the parts that need to be fixed, when I remembered a message I had received from a user.

Criticism: Telling and Showing

It’s Monday morning and I’m here to talk about criticism once more. As the weeks pass by, I work more on Dazed and I read new stories from other writers too. This experience is really helpful because it helps me understand important parts about writing and the way I think, changes a little. This time I want to share with you the biggest lesson I’ve learned from the Critique Circle: A book must not tell a story, it must show it.

Criticism: Beautifully Different

I said that I’ll come back with more on criticism, didn’t I? Here I am with the second post on criticism. My journey to accepting people's' opinions and learn to improve myself, continues now…

Joining a critique group and receiving the first critiques on my work, was really interesting, as I described you the other day

As the days passed by and I got more critiques I noticed something. Not something new, but something I knew it was true.
Seeing it, though, is quite different than knowing it. I saw how different people are.
