I’m there,
almost at the end.
I see the
finish line at the end of the road. It’s shining and bright, waiting for me to
cross it, but I stand still and watch it.
I really can’t
believe that I’m actually this close to finish my book. It was a hard one, not
because the voices didn’t talk to me this time, but because time was limited
and I was writing on and off, when I was really craving for more.
There is
this feeling again. That mixture of happiness and sadness blended like black
and white paint. So, I’m kind of feeling grey.
I think back
the day I started writing Damaged, which is book number two in the Wandering
Souls series. So I knew the characters and I knew where I wanted the story to
go. But I was missing a very important part. How would I go there? How would I
make it happen?
The magical
think is that writing happens so naturally, like breathing. So I had to let the
air in my lungs. But I was nearly suffocated. If you asked me about Damaged when
I was still on page one, even on page 50, I would tell you that there is no way
I can’t finish it. I had no freaking idea what to write.
And those
months were hard.
Actually it
was like climbing a mountain without gear. And I did misstep a lot. I was
moving slowly, not knowing where it would lead me, but then again, wasn’t this
the way it worked for me? It took me a while to realize it but when I did,
everything fell into place. I guess it’s true sometimes that when things fall
apart they are actually falling into place.
Writing
Damaged, proved to be more challenging than writing Divided, but who doesn’t
love a good challenge? After all as Cavafy (Greek poet) says, the
journey worth more than the destination.
So, here I
stand a few yards away from my destination but I choose to take a step back. I won’t
rush to cross the line. I will take my time and enjoy it, because despite the
tons of editing that will follow the next few months, I get to see my story
ending only once.
And I will make it count.
Congrats on being so close to the end! It's always exciting to finally reach that point, for sure. :)
ReplyDeleteYAY! Congrats :D You should take your time and enjoy it. Every story has an ending, but in life every ending is a new beginning. Have a wonderful week! Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jaclyn! I still haven't cross that line and I'm impatient now. :)
DeleteHave a great week and thanks for stopping by.
