The Clock of Time

The year is almost over and it’s time again to look back and evaluate the months that passed by. Was it a productive year? Did you use your time wisely?

Lately I’ve come to realize the importance of time, and I don’t mean time as we know it, not the minutes that are ticking steadily on our perfect and accurate clocks. No. I’m talking about our personal time, our internal clock that moves and adjusts according to our needs and moments.

So, what time does that clock say?

My clock is running in fast forward and I need to slow it down. There are times that I catch myself enjoying walking slowly, noticing the people and the places around me, than just heading straight to my destination. But I don’t usually do that, since I’m late and then I have to hurry.

But I’m tired of running after time and I want to just stop and enjoy it. I want to grasp every moment as if it’s something touchable, to cherish it and actually feel it.

So as this year is slowly ending, I’m tossing the clocks away. Or at least I’ll try hard to slow down time and feel each minute of the day. Because life is too short and years fly away.

Close your eyes, take a deep breath and focus on the ticking clock…

  1. So true about years flying away. Really wish time wasn't so elusive like that. Best of luck figuring out how to slow it down enough so you can enjoy it!

  2. I think when I'm ancient and poking people with my walking cane I'll think it all went too fast, but I've always thought life is long, so make it rock the planet. Or maybe I'm full of it because I look at my 8 year old and his huge feet and get wistful. It always seems children's feet determine how much time has gone by? From little cute tiny things everyone wants to nibble on to huge clomping things. Now I'm getting sentimental. I hope you get your wish and you can take slow motion snap shots of everything. Maybe all it takes is taking a breath and being late. Happy 2017, Athena! I'm sending you happy flying thoughts all the way from the Pacific Northwest!

    1. This is a great way to face life, Robyn and I'm so happy for you. I know you'll enjoy poking people with that walking cane when you're ancient.!

You're right, I need to just slow down, breathe and if I'm gonna be late, so be it. There's always the next train to catch, right? I'm gonna work on that this year.

I wish you a happy and creative year, Robyn, swimming in beautiful, unforgettable moments of time!!
