Think Out Loud: Do you believe?

This is Think out Loud. It’s a weekly meme created to help bloggers break out from the blogging bubble. The rules are simple. We post whatever we want and let people know what’s in our mind. Visit the creator on Thinks Books and join too. It’s so cool to share your random thoughts.

I had an interesting conversation with my boyfriend last night. It was about belief. How much do we believe in people? How much do they believe in us and in the end, how much do we believe in ourselves?

It’s really important to have around you people who believe in you. But not the fake, typical, interest. I’m talking about the deep and honest belief. People who can understand what you’re going through, who won’t laugh when you tell them your dreams and who won’t judge you behind your back. I believe those people are a few and not because there aren’t good people around us. Just because we are so focused on ourselves that we don’t have time for others.

And that’s the downside of today’s world.

So I am wondering. What I believe in?

Even though I am not the most optimistic person. I am a believer. I don’t know how these two fit together, but I am. I believe in kindness, in selflessness, in a greater future, even if every day is a struggle.
I sit down and try to make my day count so tomorrow, or next week, or month, or year, I will be able to see an improvement, a change. And I believe in that change despite how far and difficult it may sounds or seems. Not just for myself, but others too. I believe in people.

What can I say, I am a believer and I wait to see that change in others and in me. It will take time, it may be hard, disappointing, but eventually the change will come. We just have to believe and work, and wait, and not lose our will.

What do you believe in?

  1. "I believe in people." That is a wonderful way to live. I believe in love even if the person doesn't know how to show it. I believe in goodness even when no one can see it. And I'm so with you about time. Believing in time is the hardest though. I'm impatient to the nth degree. Sometimes I make a mess of things pushing too hard or pulling away too fast when time isn't working out for me. Wonderful TOL, Athina. I will be thinking about this one like the other ones.

  3. I think it's great how you have so much faith in others and our world in general! While I'm able to believe in others and such, I have a hard time believing in myself. I just don't have that kind of self-confidence...

  4. Holy crap, Athina. This is one of my biggest struggles in life. What do I believe in? Sometimes, I just don't know anymore...
