NaNoWriMo Challenge

It’s official. I am a NaNoWriMo participant! I’ll try to write a novel in a month! Well, how does this sound? Frankly I am terrified and in day 1, I had so many things to do that I wrote only 634 words. I need to try harder, right? Let me talk about it a little.

I learned about NaNoWriMo last year, but I wasn’t ready to do something like that, so I erased it from my mind. This year though, I felt more confident, more optimistic. Plus, I love the challenge.

I don’t know if I can make it, but it will be an interesting month.

So, what I am writing. I’m sure some of you remember that I was writing a sequel forDivided, titled Damaged. It’s a book I was struggling to write for months because I wasn’t concentrated. I was distracted and as a result I was not doing a good job. Even though there were some days I was really excited and happy, something was bothering me. So, I decided to delete it and start from scratch.

I have a small idea of what I am about to write, how the story will be formed, but that’s okay. I’ve learned to trust my characters. I’ve done it before and I’ll do it again. I hope this time the result will be better.

So, that’s it. I erased my novel and I’m willing to write it again, differently this time, faster. It will be a hell of an adventure, but if I make it, Damaged will be written, and I will be flying up in the air.

The race has begun and I hope I can write more words today. Good luck to all NaNoWriMo participants.

Let our imagination guide us this month.

  1. Awesome, Athina! I'm doing NaNo this year too. I guess there will be days with low word counts and days when the story takes over and the clicking away can't be stopped. There is something freeing about starting from scratch. The book that's coming out in December (had to move it back a month) started out completely different and something just wasn't working for me. I hope you fly with this one. I'm writing YA paranormal romance. It's something unrelated to my other stories, so no vamps, shifters, witches, or angels. At least as the main characters. Hmm. I'm here if you want to vent word count...or anything. Best of luck, Athina!

    1. Oh, I'm so happy you're doing this too.:)
I wasn't really sure if I should start from scratch or not, but I did it. So far I'm feel a little weird with the idea of a deadline, but I'll get used to it. I hope soon.
YA paranormal romance sounds great. I'm writing YA fantasy.
I wish you the best of luck and I'll be contacting you with questions. :)
      Have a great Sunday, Robyn.

  3. Good luck with NaNo! I've participated in this in the past, back when I used to write novels. It was always such a huge, huge challenge. Hope you manage to reach 50K, or something close to it!
